Stone Island Denim Research

Expanding the boundaries of denim

Spring_Summer '026

Stone Island Denim Research represents a challenge to the boundaries of denim, applying technological research and extraordinary material innovation to one of apparel's most iconic product categories. The collection introduces new fabrications, treatments, and processes that expand the definition of the fabric across jeans, outerwear, shirting and trousers.

01 STONE ISLAND DENIM RESEARCH

Combining denim's origins with new possibilities, materials like hollow fibre nylon are used alongside traditional Japanese raw selvedge. A seasonal enzyme bleach wash is introduced for Spring_Summer '026, producing an ultra-light finish.

As a tribute to its heritage, Stone Island Denim Research garments feature a dedicated black badge with a blue compass logo, and nickel shank badge buttons specifically developed for this project.

03 COLLECTION

The processes and treatments used for Stone Island Denim Research alter the structure, composition, and technical properties of the fabric, while new materials create the appearance of denim with superior lightness and strength. Compact nylon with hollow-core fibres makes even oversized garments surprisingly weightless; an oxford weave, traditionally used in cotton shirting, has been reinterpreted in nylon; and indigo-dyed cotton yarns undergo an enzymatic wash followed by a chlorine treatment to achieve an ultra-light finish. Jeans remain a foundational element of the selection, and are produced in raw, rinsed, and ultra-bleached washes and in slim, straight, and loose silhouettes.
