SELECTED WORKS_SEOUL ‘982-‘023:
THE STONE ISLAND ARCHIVE
5TH-9TH SEPTEMBER 2023
Selected Works_Seoul ‘982-‘023: The Stone Island Archive has been conceived to immerse visitors in the Stone Island universe. The comprehensive exhibition surveys over four decades of research and innovation in product design. Special focus is given to key groupings of work, such as the Pure Metal Shell jackets, the Prototype Research_Series, as well as Stone Island’s continuing experimentation with both Ice jackets and reflective materials.
Archival pieces on display includes:
Tela Stella, spring-summer 1982: a cape from the first ever Stone Island collection, born from the study of the technical and functional characteristics of military truck tarpaulins.
Glazed Silk Light, fall-winter 1987: a jacket with the glaze and color of glass, created with PVC coating on a hyper-shiny nylon base.
Ventile® Ghost Piece, spring-summer 2011: an entirely monochromatic jacket from the debut Ghost collection, made from Ventile®, a high-density 100% cotton long staple fiber.
The exhibition coincides with the second edition of Frieze Seoul, a new cultural focal point for South Korea. It takes place at the Layer 41 Studio, and it is open to the public from September 5th-9th.
