The heat-reactive pigment molecules in the resin alter the passage of light and shift in tone in response to heat, becoming lighter as the temperature rises and returning to darker tones as it drops. The aluminum lamination lends structure to the nylon, enhancing the thermal insulation properties of the garment, and lending a slightly three-dimensional, textured appearance to the surface.
